Rainy Days

The weather the past week or two has been absolutely horrible.  We've had nothing but rain for days.  Guess that's part of Hurricane Season. So sad.  I tried to go to the beach today, and couldn't because the water is just up way too high, with some massive waves.

Michael has officially taken his first Medical School test.  The test days are pretty much the highlight of our time here, meaning we all get to hangout without having to worry about studying.  We all had a blast the night of the "Mini" and are looking forward to the next night of freedom.  I've been staying super busy with working.  Definitely not a bad thing.  I'm going to be an expert Bartender when I get back.

Other than that we haven't really been up to much.  We have our first intramural softball game this Saturday and I am so excited.  It's been so long since we've both played.  I'll let you all know how it goes.  But that's all for now.  I have an early day of work tomorrow.  Being the manager of a hotel is hard work haha.  Here are just a few pictures of my apartment and De Champ, the Hotel/Bar where I work as the manager of the hotel in the mornings and a bartender at night.  Enjoy!

Oh How I Wish Time Would Fly!!

As I always say it has been a crazy week.  I've been working a lot lately so haven't had much down time.  Which I guess isn't a bad thing.   Michael has been studying so much this week preparing for his first Mini Exam that is on Monday.  I have faith that he is going to do very well.  We are both just ready for it to be over, so we can have some time to hangout without all the time constraints.  Life here is starting to get easier, but its still a daily struggle for us both.  Life here is very different than anything I have ever experienced.  I would take me days to explain all these things in detail.  But I will explain soon.  No worries.

This week has been a very draining week as well.  A dear friend and sorority sister of mine had a car accident earlier this week, and has been in ICU since then.  She is in need of much prayer, as well as her entire family and friends who are all struggling during this difficult time.  Elizabeth is such a beautiful person, inside and out.  I ask that you all continue to pray for this amazing girl.  Pray that God would make her whole again.

White Coat Ceremony

Michael's White Coat Ceremony was today.  It was actually really fun, which I wasn't exactly expecting.  There were so many great speakers, including Dominica's Prime Minister, which is the youngest Prime Minister serving in the world today.  Very cool.

This week has gone by way too fast.  I haven't had to work much this week, due to the bar being closed while they were repainting the floor.  Michael is staying super busy with his studying, which leaves me alone quite a bit.  Not that I'm complaining.  I'm so proud of him.  He's so dedicated to this profession, and I know he's going to be an absolutely amazing doctor.  Its going to be a very busy next couple of weeks with work, and going on a few trips with the spouses.  Should be lots of fun.

I also want to wish my Dad & Mom a Happy 27th Anniversary.  I love you both so much!  And I also received great news today!  My cousin Michelle and her husband Adam are expecting another baby!  So excited for you both.  Their son, Peyton will be in our wedding!  So cute.  Anyway it's way past my bedtime so that's all for now.  So many picture to follow.

Our First Couple Weeks in Dominica

There is so much to tell about the past couple of weeks here in Dominica.  We've been all over the island together and apart, and we both have our favorite places.  One of my favorites thus far is Emerald Pool.  There will be plenty of pictures to come of this amazingly beautiful place.  It's about an hour and a half drive from where we live, but so worth it. We had a few stops along the way of some great sites, and of course we had an amazing tour guide.

Michael's favorite place is of course Bense Pool.  This is where everyone goes to do some cliff jumping.  From what Michael says the hike is a bit challenging, but so worth it.  We still have lots more to see.
We are adjusting pretty well for the most part.  I, as you may or may not know have already started working at a local hotel/bar called Comfortel de Champ.  Its been great so far, even though I'm a bit out of my element with working as a waitress/bartender at night, and managing the hotel in the mornings.  But, the most important thing is that it is keeping me plenty busy.  I recently got my driver's license to be able to drive here, and I will admit, it's a bit scary since they drive on the left side of the road.  I'm sure I'm leaving so much out, but for now thats all for now.
